Babar Azam Likely to Rejoin Pakistan T20I Squad Ahead of Asia Cup 2025

LAHORE – Pakistan cricket fans could soon see former skipper Babar Azam back in action in the national T20I squad, as sources suggest he's being considered for selection ahead of the upcoming tri-nation series and the much-anticipated ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025.

However, Babar’s return isn’t confirmed just yet. The decision hinges on his performance in the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies. Team selectors are closely monitoring his form and fitness before making a final call.

On the other hand, there’s a setback for the team as opener Fakhar Zaman has been officially ruled out of both the T20I and ODI formats. The left-hander suffered an injury during the recent T20I series and will now undergo rehabilitation.

Fakhar has been directed to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore for treatment and recovery. His participation in the Asia Cup 2025 remains in doubt, pending medical updates.

With major tournaments approaching, including the Asia Cup and ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan’s selection committee faces critical decisions to ensure the strongest possible squad is fielded.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on Pakistan’s squad announcements and player fitness news.
