PM Shehbaz Sharif Backs Iran’s Right to Peaceful Nuclear Energy.




ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Islamabad’s support for Iran’s right to pursue peaceful nuclear energy, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic dialogue and cooperation in regional matters.


During a joint press conference with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Islamabad on Monday, PM Shehbaz declared that Iran has “every right” to develop nuclear capabilities for peaceful purposes under international law and treaties.


“We believe that all nations, including Iran, should enjoy the right to peaceful nuclear technology, provided it complies with global non-proliferation norms,” he stated, underscoring Pakistan’s consistent stance on the issue.


The Iranian President arrived in Pakistan for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in trade, energy, and regional security cooperation. The two leaders held high-level discussions at the Prime Minister’s House, focusing on economic integration, counter-terrorism efforts, and border stability.


PM Shehbaz noted that Pakistan and Iran are "brotherly nations" with shared cultural, religious, and historical bonds, and stressed the need to further expand cooperation in sectors like energy, health, and education. “We are committed to enhancing mutual trust and paving the way for regional peace and prosperity,” he added.


President Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s continued support and called for the expansion of economic corridors and trade routes between the two neighboring countries. The visit also saw the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at boosting economic and infrastructural cooperation.
