Pakistan Floods 2025 Cause Rs. 409 Billion in Losses, Agriculture Worst Hit

The devastating floods of 2025 have left Pakistan facing economic losses estimated at Rs. 409 billion ($1.4 billion), according to recent reports.

The agriculture sector has suffered the most, with damages exceeding Rs. 302 billion, making up nearly three-fourths of the overall impact. Crops spread across 1.3 million acres in Punjab were submerged, while Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also reported widespread destruction of farmland.

Experts warn that the loss of crops and livestock could severely affect food security and push inflation higher in the coming months. Beyond agriculture, the floods also caused damages worth nearly Rs. 98 billion to roads and infrastructure, disrupting connectivity and slowing down relief operations.

Pakistan has been experiencing increasingly destructive climate-related disasters, with floods posing a recurring threat to rural communities and the national economy. Recovery and rebuilding efforts are expected to take months, if not years.
