In a major step towards enhancing public safety, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the launch of the 911 emergency helpline across Pakistan, ensuring swift assistance during natural disasters and urgent emergencies.
The service, operated by the Pakistan Emergency Helpline (PEHL), unites police, fire brigade, health services, and disaster management under a single number. This integrated approach ensures faster coordination and quicker response times.
One of the key features of the 911 system is its network resilience—even in areas where mobile towers are damaged or inactive, calls are automatically connected to the nearest available network, keeping the lifeline open when it’s needed most.
Citizens can simply dial 911 to get immediate help, but authorities urge the public to avoid unnecessary calls so emergency lines remain free for genuine cases.
This initiative is set to significantly improve emergency response, resource management, and overall public safety across the country.
