E-Challan Launched in Another Major City in Punjab.

The Punjab government has officially rolled out a garbage tax as part of its ‘Suthra Punjab’ (Clean Punjab) initiative, designed to improve waste management and keep cities across the province cleaner and healthier.

How Much Will Households Pay?

Under the new policy, urban households will be charged between Rs300 and Rs5,000 per month, depending on the size of the property. Meanwhile, rural households will pay a smaller fee ranging from Rs200 to Rs400.

Impact on Businesses

Businesses are also included in the plan. Small shops in cities will pay up to Rs500, while larger commercial units may be taxed up to Rs3,000 monthly.

Purpose of the Tax

According to government officials, the revenue generated will go directly toward strengthening waste collection, disposal, and recycling systems across Punjab. The initiative aims to create a sustainable model for cleaner urban and rural areas, reduce pollution, and promote a healthier environment for residents.
