Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi announced that key projects, including the digitalization, upgradation, and outsourcing of Pakistan Railways, will be completed this year. Faisalabad Railway Station is set to be upgraded to modern international standards within the next 45 days.
He highlighted a $10 billion project for an 850-kilometer track from Kohat to Mazar-i-Sharif, along with a 75-kilometer extension to Uzbekistan, aimed at promoting regional connectivity. Under the prime minister’s vision, both short- and long-term projects are underway to modernize rail operations and enhance passenger facilities.
Abbasi shared that WiFi services are being introduced at 40 stations across Punjab, while outsourcing of trains, rest houses, and other facilities will be finalized by September 30. The cleanliness system has been modernized, and special saloons are now available for the public at reasonable rates.
